TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of St Engineering, is seeking a full-time Street Lighting Electrician to join our team in the Tampa, Florida.
Job Summary: This job may include any aspect of field support and installation or repair, and is not limited to street lighting maintenance, electrical, data, and fiber optic cable installation; conduit and pull box installation; and pole and foundation installation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist in installation and wiring of transformers, trouble shooting, pulling cable, construction work, utilizing power tools, equipment, and bucket truck
Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic lighting components.
Installing and mounting lighting controls, devices, sensors, and components.
Testing and troubleshooting lighting systems, continuity of circuits, and fixtures using testing devices.
Install pull boxes, conduit, street lighting poles, and foundations.
Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
Raise, lower, or position equipment, tools, and materials, using hoist, hand line, or block and tackle.
Completes daily reports, logs, and performs shift-to-shift communications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and local practices.
Work with technical team on advanced and intermittent technical issues.
Produce quality work that meets or exceeds National Electric Code
Required Skills & Experience
At least 21 years of age or older,
Applicant must possess valid driver's license and be able to meet driving requirements, CDL Class B license preferred,
Successfully obtain a customer-approved Florida Statewide Law Enforcement Radio Systems (SLERS) security clearance throughout the term of their employment,
Must be comfortable with and able to operate 40 and 55 ft. bucket trucks; and at times an 80 ft. bucket truck,
Must be comfortable with working at heights up to 80 ft.,
Have a high mechanical aptitude and be good with his or her hands,
Able to act on the instructions from a supervisor and work well alone or as members of a team,
Should be organized, analytical and provide the necessary strength and have stamina for a job that involves occasional heavy lifting and flexibility,
Able to pass Basic Skills Test, Multi-Craft Aptitude Test, Color Identification Test.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Other Requirements:
1 - 2 years of related experience desired
Required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and moving traffic.
Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
Comfortable with confined space work.
Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime and night shifts when required.
Physical Requirements:
They may stand for long periods and frequently work on ladders and scaffolds. Their working environment varies, depending on the type of job. Some may work in dusty, dirty, hot, or wet conditions, or in confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable places. Electricians risk injury from electrical shock, falls, and cuts; to avoid injuries, they must follow strict safety procedures. May travel to jobsites, which may be up to 100 miles (or more) away.
