Assistant Vice President of Facilities Services (Finance)
Department: Facilities Management Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education Description:
Provides leadership and direction to the administration and operations of UH facilities and utilities, making effective use of budgets, personnel, and other resources in support of the university's operational objectives; and collaborates with various university constituents, including faculty and staff.
1. Directs university facilities management and physical plant activities including grounds, solid waste and recycling, housekeeping, campus infrastructure, utilities, facilities customer service center, and management of the capital renewal and deferred maintenance program.
2. Develops and monitors annual budgets; plans and implements short- and long-term objectives.
3. Oversees managerial and supervisory staff and enforces standards for the hiring, training, evaluation and discipline of all facilities maintenance personnel.
4. Inspects work sites, facilities and buildings to ensure that services meet established quality standards.
5. Manages operations and project budgets of varying fund types. Ensures funds are expended appropriately and effectively in fulfillment of university goals.
6. Reviews and approves cost estimates for facilities maintenance projects.
7. Coordinates facilities maintenance, renovation and small projects with Facilities Planning and Construction to ensure efficient use of resources including overseeing in-house construction.
8. Develops and enforces operational procedures and best practices, ensuring compliance by facilities maintenance personnel with university policies and procedures.
9. In coordination with the Department of Public Safety, establishes and maintains a priority system for emergency responses to campus infrastructure, facilities and buildings.
10. Directs effective preventive maintenance, maintains a priority system for deferred maintenance, and implements and maintains quality assurance programs.
11. Represents the University on numerous committees and coordinates with departments and colleges including numerous meetings as required.
12. Performs other job-related duties as required.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
