APRN, Breast Surgery (Healthcare)
The Advanced Practice Nurse is authorized to:
Prescribe and dispense medication when granted authority in accordance with Arkansas licensure.Collect, order, and interpret lab work and diagnostic studies under agreed upon protocols.Order therapies such as occupational, speech, and physical therapy, and psychological counseling.May obtain comprehensive health histories and perform complete physical examinations, develop differential diagnoses, develop and implement plans of care, evaluate and document clients response to plan of care.May provide client and/or family education.May organize referrals and/or consultations when appropriate.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Practitioner Patient Assessment
Provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development and other identified needs.Assesses health status by performing the medical history, physical examination and psychosocial assessment.Sees patients in the clinics assigned and reports findings and test results to attending physician.Monitors laboratory, clinical radiographic and procedural data for daily rounds.Reviews the finding of the history and physical, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, plan for further diagnosis and therapeutic management as outlined in collaboration with the attending physician.
Intervention/Evaluation
Prevents, minimizes and manages symptoms/toxicities/health abnormalities related to disease or treatment in collaboration with physician and other allied personnel.Evaluates health care provided and modifies care as needed (under the supervision of a physician if medical acts are required).Provides psychological support to patients and families.Provides health care throughout the disease process: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative and terminal care.
Facilitates use of CARTI resources
Facilitates communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinates services related to patient care.Schedules consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, future appointments for patients in coordination with the attending physician.
Educator
Provides health education to the patient and his/her family (i.e., management of side effects, anticipatory teaching).Participates in formal and informal instruction of nursing students, professional nurses and other health professionals.
Consultation
Provides consultation to colleagues and allied personnel.Collaborates with medical, nursing and other disciplines regarding plan of care, follow up and evaluation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in continuing education/training activities including monthly online training.Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
Ensure that supplies and equipment are stored in an organized and efficient manner.Demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of equipment according to specific product information.Follow appropriate procedure for obtaining and returning or cleaning/disposing of equipment and supplies.Participate in economical utilization of supplies and ensure equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner.Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.
Identify yourself in a pleasant and positive manner.Take responsibility for helping the caller.
Assist in the orientation/training for new colleagues.Assist other colleagues in the performance of their assignments.
Seek out opportunities to help rather than waiting to be asked.Consider the impact of your actions on colleagues throughout CARTI.
Take directions and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless workflow.Demonstrate flexibility to perform duties wherever deemed necessary.Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
Investigate and follow through on unusual orders or requests for service or information.Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents and/or incidents so follow up and/or prevention can occur.Record/report the need for service maintenance or repair of equipment and remove any faulty equipment from service.
Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet client expectations.
Take initiative to do to redo inadequate or incomplete work, even if it is not yours.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: May be required to travel for consultation and attendance of meetings or events.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No direct supervision.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is masters or doctorate prepared as a Nurse Practitioner (NP).The Advanced Practice Nurse must have possession of a valid Arkansas license as a Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.A current, or be eligible for, a DEA license.Certificate of Prescriptive AuthorityBLS Certified (ACLS Optional).Must possess valid Arkansas drivers license.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
At least two year of Oncology experience preferred.Knowledge in medical claim billing preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form to interact with patients, family members, vendors and outside consultants and service organizations and technical persons at outside facilities on an intermittent basis.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, students, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.Ability to use tact and diplomacy in making recommendations, reporting errors or problems, securing information or discussing patient treatments when dealing with physicians and staff on a frequent basis.
