Summary/Objective: Computer support specialists provide help and advice to employees within Phelps Memorial Health Center. Computer support specialists, assist non-IT users who are having computer problems and support employees with their day-to-day issues. They provide primarily in-house support and service Phelps Memorial Health Center issued equipment. Essential Functions: Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation: Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problemsProvides support of systems for break-fix, install, move, add, change, and preventative maintenance activities.Builds and deploys desktop computers.Performs other activities including imaging, patch implementation, incident resolution, account maintenance, password resets, system upgrades, and data migrations.Conducts audio and video setups for public programs and meetings.Tracks hardware/software inventory.Supports business-related smartphone use.Provides technical support for remote access solutions.May assist in planning and implementing system upgrades and expansion.Keeps abreast of functionality of new systems.Installs, upgrades, and configures network printing, directory structures, rights, security, and software on file serversEstablishes network users, user environment, directories, and security for networks being installed including assigning employee passwords for computer accessProvides IT orientation for new employeesResponds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access of resources on the networkWrites detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programMonitors the computer help desk and record detailed descriptions of steps required to solve each issueAssists in training personnel in departments as system functions are expanded throughout the facilityInteracts with users providing support and training as neededConfers with supervisor to plan data security for new or modified software, discussing issues such as employee data access needs and risk of data loss or disclosureReviews employee violations of computer security procedures recorded by computer and reports violations to supervisor to ensure that violation is not repeatedCompletes special projects as assigned by the department leader and keeps detailed records of the progress of each projectGreets guests promptly and courteouslyPresents a professional, pleasant, and positive imageMaintains patient confidentiality at all timesPerforms additional duties, either incidental or implied, consistent with the employees background or training, which may be reasonably delegated as being in the best interest of the organizationResponsible for personal development in attendance of education programs/seminars Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
