General Ledger Accountant (Administrative)
Job Summary: The General Ledger Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for providing general accounting and business support to the company. The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for the accounting of fixed assets, journal entries, and GL accounts reconciliations. The person in this position is also responsible for promoting Child Development, Inc. / Choices for Children's mission and values.
Responsibilities:
•General Ledger Accountant is responsible for assuring accuracy of journal entries posted to the accounting system.
•Support the full accounting cycle to allow for timely closing of the finances and provision of financial data to management.
•Effective coordination with other team members both within accounting and outside of the accounting.
Accountabilities:
•Prepare detailed review of general ledger accounts and postings, including analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
•Process complex allocations related to labor distribution, revenue and other program expenses.
•Resolve any accounting discrepancies.
•Maintain fixed assets files.
•Update consolidated financial statements, including inter-company eliminations.
•Prepare financial audit schedules and reconciliations.
•Provide support and customer service to other departments.
•Support the Controller in upholding company accounting policies and procedures.
•Cross-train and support all accounting team members as needed.
•Perform other special projects, ad hoc reports, and office duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
•BA/BS degree in Accounting preferred.
•2-4 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting required.
•Good knowledge of accounting concepts, terminologies, practices and procedures.
•Computer skills with Strong Excel knowledge required.
•Must work well in a deadline driven environment.
•Work well with current accounting system and adapt to new system as needed.
•Effective planning and organization skills.
•Strong attention to detail and process orientation.
•Ability to prioritize work.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Effective Communications skills.
