Nemours
Pediatric Hospitalist-Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware (Finance)
The mission of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics is to provide superb healthcare to the children of the Delaware Valley; support the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows within the Jefferson Health System and Nemours; achieve a national reputation for scholarship, service, advocacy, and academic excellence in the field of pediatrics; enable the academic careers of its faculty; and contribute directly to the population health of the regional community through outreach and collaboration.
Equity, diversity, and inclusion guide our growth and strategy. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about, and committed to, leading efforts to provide culturally relevant care, promoting anti-racist care, reducing health disparities, and helping to build a diverse and inclusive team environment.
The hospitalist position includes serving as the attending hospitalist on the general pediatric inpatient teaching service; managing patients and supervising pediatric and family medicine residents and medical school students; and serving as the attending physician on a non-teaching, co-management service caring for post-surgical patients and patients with medical complexity. A non-teaching, seasonal service has recently been implemented to support acuity and high census demands. There is a night hospitalist rotation during the week that is in-house until midnight. When implemented in the future, there will be an expectation to participate in 24/7 overnight coverage.
The section is a close-knit, collegial team of 13 general pediatric hospitalist physicians, 4 medicine-pediatric hospitalist physicians, and 6 general pediatric hospitalist APRNs covering the teaching service/medically complex service seven days per week on a rotational basis. The section also supports two Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellows every year. Physicians work on an hours/year schedule made up of weeks and weekends, night shifts, medically complex service, and non-teaching service. Hours and schedule are subject to change as staffing needs require. Physicians are expected to apply for and obtain academic rank at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Physicians in the section participate in teaching, mentorship, academic scholarship, education, clinical research, advocacy, and quality improvement.
Successful applicants will be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics and be eligible for an unrestricted Delaware medical license. Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is preferred.
