• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Background in a progression towards learning tool and die making (mold making) or similar field.
• Two years of recent experience working around horizontal lathes, vertical mills, and surface grinders; basic knowledge in speeds and feeds.
• Prior data collection and organization experience is preferred.
• Some manufacturing experience useful with ability to perform basic problem solving and identify generic tooling
• Knowledge of Master Cam computer software used for CNC mills and the interactions between software and machines useful.
• Basic Computer skills

Howmet Aerospace's Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Tool Maintenance "C".
Candidate will train on 1st shift then be moved to 2nd or 3rd shift. (1st shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.,2nd shift is from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and 3rd is from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
JOB SUMMARY:
Work and train with direct supervision and/or other Tool Makers to plan, fabricate, and/or manufacture fixtures, patterns, and gauges of simple to moderate complexity. Advance your working knowledge in the use of all types of precision machine shop equipment and hand tools to perform moderate to complex tasks. Complete class work studies and testing in a prescribed training program. Must possess experience in investment casting tool or machining process or have passing grade in some recognized / accredited machining related courses within the last 2 years.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Maintains, Fabricates and Manufactures fixtures, dies, and gauges of simple to moderate complexity.
• Using Computers (entering information, etc.)
• Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
• Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
• Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
• Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct, and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ability to logically understand machining requirements and mentally determine the necessary steps / procedures to facilitate the task at hand.
2. Learn to perform all set-ups of equipment and molds utilizing knowledge of machine shop practices and procedures as well as a general knowledge of tool and die making (mold making) equipment and techniques.
3. Performs simple to moderately complex machining processes using horizontal lathes, manual vertical mills, CNC mills, and surface grinders.
4. Inspects tools using precision inspection equipment for conformance to established specifications.
5. Can set up, create, and sharpens drills, tool bits, and cutting tools.
6. Use a variety of precision inspection equipment such as comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and understand surface plate set-ups.
7. Plans the repair or modification of simple to moderately complex fixtures, dies and gauges as required.
8. Can understand and troubleshoot issues or damage to fixtures, dies, and gauges of simple to moderate complexity
9. Ability to read, understand and follow instructions from supervision or other tool makers, as well as tool work order requests per engineering and manufacturing instructions.
10. Maintains records, drawings, electronic files, or other paperwork as required to complete and organize task at hand.
12. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
13. Performs other duties as required.
14. Complies with all EHS rules related to the work environment.
15. Must complete class work studies and pass periodic testing in a prescribed training program.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and think logically to analyze situations.
• Must be able to work efficiently, safely, and accurately to meet schedules and minimize rework.
• Must have mechanical abilities and aptitude.
• Must have a basic development of 3D spatial relations.
• Must be able to communicate orally and via written means to convey results of tool rework.
• Must accumulate a good working knowledge of machines, how to set-up and operate complex equipment, and a basic understanding of trigonometry, geometry, and general mathematics.
• Must be able to read and work to detailed machining blueprints and electronic models in MasterCam / Solidworks.
• Requires constant concentration and alertness to avoid mistakes and injury.
• Must have a basic knowledge of brazing and silver solder process for tool repair.
• Must have a basic knowledge of tool steel heat treat process.
• Work requires constant attention to details, safety practices and procedures while around rotating equipment and the use of good work habits.
• Must have basic knowledge of how to operate precision equipment and measuring devices while collecting accurate and meaningful data for the task at hand.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED:
1. Physical Demands:

• Good manual dexterity to operate computer equipment and precision measuring instruments.

• Will occasionally be working around large and sometimes heavy fixtures, patterns, and gauges.
• Squatting/crouching/bending when retrieving stored items from lower shelves and file cabinets, moving equipment / product inspections, etc.
• Clean work areas and maintain a clean work environment; perform 5S cleaning activities as required.
2. Training:
• Candidate should bring to the job recent experience / schooling in the machining trades or investment casting industry (within the last 2 years) and be willing to continue his/her education through some form of on-the-job training process and therefore show the ability to retain and master the learned skills via testing and actual on the job use.
3. Equipment Used:
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools, precision measurement equipment such as comparators, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and establishes surface plate set-ups.
• Performs simple to moderately complex machining using horizontal lathes, vertical mills, CNC mills and surface grinders.
4. Work Environment (Chemical and Physical Exposures)
• Air-conditioned and heated environment; exposed to slight degree of noise, oil, dust, fumes, chemicals, nickel, heat or cold.
