Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Driver to join our team at Oldcastle Infrastructure, a leading manufacturer of concrete pipes. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy forklifts to load trucks with concrete pipes of various sizes, and rubber tire loaders, as well as assisting with production tasks across our facilities. This role requires precision, attention to detail, equipment expertise, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and other PIT equipment to load and unload concrete pipes of varying sizes onto trucks for delivery
- Safely maneuver a rubber-tire loader to transport and manage materials such as gravel, sand, and other aggregates around the facility
- Inspect and maintain equipment daily, reporting any issues or maintenance needs to supervisors
- Assist with production tasks, including material handling, pipe staging, and facility organization as needed
- Ensure proper securing of loads to meet safety and transportation standards
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices
- Perform facility upkeep and support tasks during downtime
Job Requirements
- Proven experience operating forklifts, heavy PIT equipment, and heavy machinery
- Strong understanding of load balancing, weight distribution, and safe material handling practices
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment inspections and troubleshooting
- Excellent attention to detail, especially on paperwork, and commitment to workplace safety
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
- Reliable team player with good communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating PIT equipment or similar machinery
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as production demands require
