Head Cashier (Sales)
Our busy store in Melville has an immediate need for a PT Head Cashier for its front end! Our Head Cashiers ensure a consistently high-quality customer experience at check-out for all customers and guests. Individual will be responsible for training cashiers on drawer accuracy and positive interactions with customers, maintaining staffing levels as appropriate for store staffing ratios and assisting as the backup cashier as needed. This individual will also ensure that the check-out area is kept clean and safe.
An ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience as a cashier and have a customer focused attitude with a passion for motivating and training others. You will partner with the Store Manager to minimize inventory loss.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve all issues with the cash register and other equipmentKeeps the check-out area clean and serviceableMaintain schedule for cashiers and ensure coverage during all shiftsTrain and oversee cashiersUnderstand product placement at the store to answer customer questionsEnsure accurate drawer reconciliation at the end of each shiftServe as backup for any cashiers calling outTrack cashier break schedulesOther duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalent3+ years previous experience as a cashierMust be computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office SuiteKeen ability to multitask and manage a large staff of cashiersMust demonstrate a friendly and courteous attitudeOn-time with reliable transportationStrong leadership and training and development skills are needed in order to to train and mentor cashiers within departmentMust be able to speak, read and understand the English languageExperience reconciling registersSuperior customer service skills

Working Conditions
Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
