Assistant General Counsel (Personal Services)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required.
Represent CMHA in its eviction docket before the Magistrate(s) of the Hamilton County Municipal Court. Represent CMHA contested eviction and small claims proceedings before the Hamilton County Municipal Court, including jury trials. At the discretion of General Counsel represent CMHA in issues pending before Ohio and Federal Courts, legislative matters, compliance related issues and other areas where legal representation is requested. Advise staff on a variety of legal affairs (e.g. contracts, development, personnel/labor issues, personal and general liability). Review and advise the agency on the implication of current, new or revised laws affecting CMHA. Research legal developments and provide advisory opinions to CMHA departments upon request. At the discretion of General Counsel represent CMHA in real property issues, including but not limited to acquisition and disposition, development, and leasing; review of Declarations of Trust. Act as liaison with CMHA outside counsel on matters assigned for representation by outside law firms. Monitor CMHA contracts to ensure the mandatory contract terms are embedded and the contracts are performance driven. Serve as departmental representative on projects related to lease enforcement and the reduction of evictions, e.g. Prevention Retention, and Contingency (PRC) initiatives. Develop and provide training to CMHA staff. Perform additional duties as assigned.
