Outreach Coordinator (Project Management)

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Santa Clara University has been awarded a grant from the State of California, administered by the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine (CIAPM), to address youth mental health, with a particular focus on depression among LGBTQ+ youth. This program funded by the grant is called the BALANCE Study (Building an Affirmative Life and Navigating Challenging Emotions) and will test scalable intervention and prevention approaches including a digital mental health application and telehealth-based peer counseling.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Community Services Unit (CSU) Director, the Outreach Coordinator will help to facilitate the goals of the grant related to outreach to LGBTQ+ youth in California. Responsibilities will include helping connect with other community organizations and stakeholders for study
dissemination and recruitment, disseminating of intervention materials, providing feedback on intervention materials based on the Outreach Coordinators experience working with the community, and helping with the Youth Advisory Board (YAB). YAB support may entail recruiting and referrals, coordinating YAB payment, and other duties as needed. This position must work well with diverse backgrounds, be able to communicate information effectively, and be available for in-person.
Duties:
Assist in the execution of the BALANCE Study contract and support in meeting requirements;Conduct outreach to community groups in diverse areas, schools and community forums to
disseminate information and recruit participants;Disseminate information and intervention materials at community events, school events, fairs and
other outreach forums;Develop outreach strategies to achieve program goals, including, but not limited to, networking,
canvassing, tabling, presentations, etc.;Foster relationships with local schools and organizations, and identify collaboration opportunities;Increase study participation through targeted community engagement to effectively meet the needs of the program;Conduct follow-up contact in a timely manner;Establish rapport and maintain authentic relationships with community members and young people;Collaborate with the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) as needed and to ensure program messaging and
services are tailored and targeted for young people in California;Coordinate YAB payment including collecting necessary payment information and timesheets;Maintain knowledge of resources and programs available throughout the County of Santa Clara to
engage participants in the BALANCE Study;
Provide feedback on study intervention materials as needed;Maintain documentation and appropriate files and complete required paperwork within expected timeframes, including data collection;Administer, collect, and compile evaluation data and surveys as required by the agency and program;Maintain confidentiality and security of agency and program records, and any participant information;Work closely with the CSU Director to manage program goals, statistics, and completion of program outcomes;Provide monthly reports and data as requested;Assist with any monthly, quarterly, or annual reports;Attend meetings, supervision, and trainings necessary for professional development as required by
the agency and program;Present a positive image of the program and agency in the community and abide agency and program contract policies and procedures;Understand and adhere to the laws governing child, dependent adult, and elder abuse reporting;Perform other duties as assigned by the CSU Director for the benefit of the agency and its clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Sociology from an accredited college or university;Bilingual preferred;Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds;Experience working in community settings;Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing marginalized groups including LGBTQIA, BIPOC, juvenile justice involved youth, undocumented young people, etc.;Knowledge of community resources;Ability to work independently and show initiative;Self-starter with a positive attitude;Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, accountability, reliability, and punctuality;Ability to establish priorities and successfully meet goals and outcomes;Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills; ability to gather and process information to support the organization and its team;Effective verbal and written communication skills;Effective outreach, networking, and resourcing skills that will support in reaching participants;Computer literate;Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.;Fingerprinting and background check as required by the Department of Justice and FBI;Valid CA drivers license, an automobile for agency travel, and proof of current auto insurance;TB test clearance required every 2 years;COVID19 vaccination and booster, highly recommended.
