ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Center for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) is a new initiative of the USF Health Heart Institute which operates under the auspices of the Morsani College of Medicine at USF. Members of this new Center will have opportunities for collaboration with faculty from other USF colleges including Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health , and the Moffitt Comprehensive Cancer Center. The CRM and USF Health Heart Institute are located in the new state-of-the-art facility at 560 Channelside Drive in downtown Tampa. The building houses multiple floors of clinical and laboratory space, state-of-the-art small animal imaging facilities, and other outstanding core facilities including a vivarium fully outfitted for small
animal husbandry and zebrafish.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Magadum Lab is seeking skilled and motivated researcher to contribute to our cutting-edge work on mRNA-based therapies for cardiovascular diseases (CVD). We are looking for an experienced research scientist proficient in tissue culture and well-trained in fundamental molecular and cellular biology techniques. This individual will play a dual role, assisting lab members with ongoing research projects while also independently leading their own research initiative.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting and guiding innovative bench-level research.
Supporting the day-to-day operations of the lab, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment.
Collaborating with team members to achieve shared research objectives. As an experienced research scientist, you will be integral to advancing our mission to develop transformative therapies for cardiovascular health.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Conduct of independent research, tissue culture, and basic molecular and cellular biology techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform molecular and cellular biology, tissue culture, as well as other lab bench-level techniques.
Assist with synthesis of modified mRNA or mRNA, and its delivery in vitro and in vivo. Studies of animal models of cardiovascular disease. This includes the design and implementation of studies to determine potential of new approaches to cardiovascular disease therapies.
Assist with the design, completion, and interpretation of experiments being conducted. Also will assist with the design of experiments for students, postdocs, and other lab members.
Assist with the preparation and submission of manuscripts for publication and grants for funding.
Prepare and present research for meetings, assist with review of manuscripts based on expertise.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical, or medical science with 2 years of experience.
Specific degree in biology, physiology, or biotechnology. 2 years of prior research lab experience.
PREFERRED:
It is preferred that the candidate possess a Master's degree in Biology, Physiology, Biotechnology, or other closely related field with at least 3 years of research experience.
