Role/ Department: Social Impact Consultant/Social Impact Department
Northern Trust's Social Impact group is responsible for delivering solutions for social, philanthropic and community development objectives for our clients and stakeholders through Impact Investing and philanthropic giving. While operating within the framework of Northern's community investment philosophy, the Consultant role will be responsible for assisting with the data collection and management that pertain to the Community Reinvestment Act & Wholesale designation for Northern Trust Corporation and its subsidiary. This role will contribute to the data analysis and interpretation of the bank's community development activity by assisting with internal and external informational requests, as well as supporting the related requests for the Community Reinvestment Act Federal Reserve Bank Chicago examination.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
• Assists in the execution of the Community Reinvestment Act strategy in line with the Corporate Sustainability, Inclusion and Social Impact strategic plan.
• Responsible for the identification, review, and documentation of Community Development Loans
• Involved in the management of community development grants for the states covered by CRA.
• Prepares submission of CRA service hours/volunteer hours for CRA exams and documents qualification.
• Responds to questions from examiners regarding CD loans, grants and service hours.
• Assists in maintaining relationships with community stakeholders in the bank's footprint to inform and develop innovative strategies for the deployment of capital in underserved communities.
Skills/ Qualifications:
• 3 to 5 years of proven project coordination/project management skills in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time and multi-task as needed
• Ability to accurately track, record and present data to support the impact work of the group
• Knowledge and ability to manage regulatory expectations and examinations
• Ability to self-direct and work independently
• Knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act requirements, especially what qualifies under each community development purpose category is highly preferred
• A College or University degree is preferred with experience in CSR or Community Development
