Staff Accountant (Project Management)
Completes or assists daily posting activities to the general ledger, including processing bank accounting batches, general ledger entry posting and general ledger verification.
Monitors daily correspondent bank balances and makes general ledger entries as needed to properly reflect activities of the bank, maintains reporting related to correspondent bank balances and availability.
Prepares weekly updates and distributes deposit rate change reports as necessary.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of weekly regulatory reporting forms including the FR-2900 and the FR-2644.
Prepares and monitors the bank's accruals entries, and oversees the posting of prepaid expenses to the general ledger. Assists with the addition of new prepaids and other accounts payable related questions.
Prepares certain month-end or quarter-end period close related processes, including calculating various entries for posting and/or preparing reports, including but not limited to those presented at various meetings, such as Asset Liability Committee.
Assists in the entry of Other Real Estate/Repossessed asset items and maintaining the monthly roll forward schedules.
Gathers monthly Mortgage Servicing reports to obtain valuation from third party provider, posts general ledger entries for any valuation adjustments required.
Completes quarterly commitments schedule, gathering required information from various areas of the bank and calculating used and unused credit commitments.
Prepares and organizes various Call Report schedules to aid in the quarterly submission.
Assists with the implementation and maintenance of various accounting related software and systems.
Provides general support to other areas of the Accounting Department along with account research and audits as necessary.
Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the bank's internal policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities, although this person should be a resource to others within the Accounting Department.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Four-year Bachelor's degree (accounting and finance background); or four years of accounting and/or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrate analytical and technical/computer skills using financial/accounting systems, and proficiency in the use of computers and software packages, including specific knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
