1. Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility.

3. May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment.
4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.

7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
8. Performs other job-related duties as required.
MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.

The University of Houston, Petroleum Engineering Department has a Postdoctoral fellow position opening in Professor Hatzignatiou's Research Group available as early as April 1, 2025.
In the Postdoctoral Fellow position offered, the successful candidate will have strong academic preparation and experience in both experimental and modeling research work documented by corresponding journal publications, and is expected to perform the following tasks/duties for the research group:
• Conduct CCS related experimental studies to obtain rock properties, evaluate rock/fluids interactions, and obtain results to be use in the development of CO2 storage site(s).
• Use simulation models to design and/or analyze observed lab experimental results.
• Explore the exploitation of geothermal resources and investigate the potential for hydrogen generation.
• Coordinate the work of PhD students involved with the project(s) in the research team.
• Participate in internal and external weekly meetings.
• Help in preparing quarterly, yearly and final reports.
• Help to meet project(s) deliverables.
• Help in writing research proposals soliciting funds from funding agencies such as DOE, NSF, etc.
• Help in writing and presenting technical articles on the research being developed and results obtained.
• Help in filing patents on research efforts.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
The minimum requirement for the position is a Doctor of Philosophy in a directly related Engineering or Science field with specialization directly related to the type of work briefly described above and planned to be performed.
