The Manufacturing Manager oversees the production readiness, execution, and delivery of therapeutic proteins (APIs) under cGMP conditions in both upstream and downstream production areas. This role involves immediate response to manufacturing issues, leading cross-functional teams, and acting as the technical point of contact for production execution while being responsible for suite readiness and providing industry leading coaching and mentoring opportunities to manufacturing supervisors and associates!
Responsibilities
Deliver to Ready, Run, Release priorities per Plan while Independently making decisions and operating suites to ensure flawless execution.
Apply Root Cause Analysis / Cause Mapping to identify and proactively prevent issues, ensuring outstanding problem resolution while implementing preventative actions in response to safety near misses or incidents, maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
Lead major investigations and develop comprehensive Storyboards, addressing issues such as contamination.
Build and maintain a process-specific reference guide for troubleshooting and handling blocking issues, ensuring smooth operations.
Follow up on suite board actions/blocking issues related to Equipment, Documents, or Process, ensuring timely resolution.
Act as the Equipment and Process Subject Matter Expert (SME), identifying and developing training materials in collaboration with T&D or expert trainers, ensuring SOP clarity and accuracy, and coordinating Equipment Cost Center Review for all areas of responsibility, ensuring financial efficiency.
Develop associate SMEs for analytical instruments such as FIT, NOVA, SoloVPE, Density Meters, Vicell, etc.
Conduct Post Campaign Manufacturing Lessons Learned sessions, including eDCF Review with MSAT.
Address Regulatory and Customer Audit Requests, providing responses for Documents, Equipment, and Process.
Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors and associates, involving employees in issue identification and resolution while modeling behavior for a top notch GMP environment.
Key Requirements:
Extensive work history in manufacturing with proven leadership experience; GMP familiarity and a biotech background are highly desired.
AS/BS degree preferred; HS Diploma or equivalent considered with relevant experience.
Experience with 6S and Lean Manufacturing; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and safe work environment leadership with preferred knowledge of personalized medicine manufacturing.
High level of suite-specific operations and technical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability in Planning, Organizing, and Controlling proficiency.
Ability to drive excellence in performance, adapting to changing priorities and ensuring the successful implementation of initiatives.
