The Facilities Custodian is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and hygienic environment at the clinic and satellite facilities. This position involves performing routine janitorial tasks, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness across various areas of the clinic to ensure a high standard of sanitation. The role also includes vehicle cleaning and maintenance, as well as tasks related to the upkeep of outdoor spaces and parking areas. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and committed to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
How will I contribute
Perform general custodial services to ensure a clean and hygienic environment. Sweep, mop, disinfect surfaces, and restock sanitation supplies as required. Restock paper supplies and clean all bathrooms daily, focusing on the late morning/early afternoon shift. Re-check lobby and Oak Wellness bathrooms before leaving, ensuring cleanliness. Clean the medical records chart room daily (floor, trash removal, dusting). Clean the mail room daily (trash removal, floor, dusting, organization). Sanitize staff lounge and communal spaces every day. Clean all outside entrances, including emptying garbage cans and ashtrays, picking up litter, scraping gum off sidewalks, and hosing down as needed. Clean parking lot and trash bin area daily, including picking up litter and hosing down spills. Restock janitorial closet with necessary supplies. Monitor sanitation inventory and restock supplies as time permits. Move office furniture and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed (including lifting at least 50 lbs.). Clean and organize inside storage areas as assigned. Wash the exterior (including tires) and dry each assigned vehicle. Clean both the inside and outside of all windows and windshields on assigned vehicles. Remove litter from the interior of vehicles and discard appropriately. Vacuum the interior of vehicles and wash floor mats as needed. Wipe down dashboards, door jams, and other interior surfaces. Complete vehicle maintenance checklist duties and report any issues. Clean/shampoo carpets as needed. Provide support for satellite facilities as needed, including janitorial and maintenance services. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning and success of the program. May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible. This position requires flexibility to work early mornings, late afternoons, weekends, and some holidays as the clinic operates 24/7.
What I bring
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) 1 year previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance roles, with a strong understanding of cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment; or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience. Class C Driving License Knowledge of cleaning procedures, safety standards, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Familiarity with maintaining various building systems, including restrooms, office spaces, parking areas, and outdoor facilities. Understanding of infection control practices, especially in healthcare settings, and the ability to manage sanitation needs effectively. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify cleaning and maintenance needs. Capability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms to report issues and coordinate with team members. Strong work ethic, reliability, and a high level of responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Demonstrates attention to detail, pride in work, and a commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Flexible and adaptable, with a positive attitude toward teamwork and problem-solving Experience in a healthcare or similar environment is a plus.
