POSITION SUMMARY The Lead Warehouse person is a working supervisor, directing work activities of warehouse staff on the floor and managing quality areas of the work process. Under minimal supervision, follows written work orders in the loading and/or unloading of tires as needed. Responsible for picking and loading tires orders, moving tires to or from storage to designed trucks. Uses forklift to store and relocate tires as needed. Trains entry-level Warehouse Associates.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PRINCIPAL TASKS
1. Performs a variety of cross section of distribution/shipping/receiving positions. Performs all position of the warehouse to take over any function to ensure no interruption to service to our customers. Train Warehouse associates; manage quality and productivity standards. Control paper flow for any given operation and maintain the database. Organize paperwork so the data can be collected to track all product movements in and out of the business. Holds Safety Meetings, and maintains a safe work environment.
2. Receive load assignments at the start of shift from Manager. Perform pre-trip inspection for fork lift at the start of each shift and note any equipment issues on the inspection checklist.
3. Load and unload tires from trucks as needed using a forklift. Chock trailer or utilize dock levelers prior to loading or unloading. Ensure product is accurate and damage free.
4. Responsible for picking orders or putting away ordered as needed.
5. Responsible for any other additional duties as assigned by Management.
MAJOR CHALLENGES
1. Ability to handle pieces of freight that weight 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
2. Ability to operate material handling equipment, i.e. sit down forklift
3. Ability to accomplish projects with little or no supervision.
4. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Ability to reason and resolve some issues independently.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY AND INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
1. Frequent contact with Distribution Center/Warehouse employees within the organization. Must be able to communicate effectively in a professional manner. COMPETENCIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS WORK EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience in a warehouse environment, with Inventory Control experience. ACADEMIC/TRAINING: A High School diploma or equivalent. SKILLS: Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Must be forklift certified and able to operate material handling equipment, i.e., forklift, sit down and stand up. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Be able to read, write and speak English, with basic mathematical skills. Must be bi-lingual, English/Spanish. Must have the ability to reason logically, use common sense, and resolve issues independently. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands of this position require waling, standing, sitting, hearing, seeing, moving, driving, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is typical of a warehouse, with forklifts moving, truck being loaded and unloaded, using propane and electricity, with a strong smell of tires. The environment has uncontrolled air.
